Tanjong Katong Girls’ embarked on a project with the theme of Compassion as its focus, in partnership with the Marine Parade Community Club Women Executive Committee and Haig Girls School. A parent of one students had earlier donated unpainted clay eggs to the school.
Hence, the school decided to work with the students and to paint the eggs for a good cause. The TKGS Art Club and the Marine Parade Community Centre members taught the Haig Girls primary school pupils to paint the eggs based on the theme.
A story which depicted the theme of Compassion was narrated to the students who then discussed acts of compassion that they have come across in their lives.
After the eggs were painted, they inserted a note into each egg describing what they understood from the word ‘Compassion’and what their painting was about. Words of encouragement were also included.
The painted eggs were distributed by the Marine Parade Community Centre to the underprivileged families in the constituency on their weekly food distribution day with the help of our students on 11th May 2012.
